Our Impact

Mi Works Matters published that 81% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are unemployed in Michigan, compared to 9% of individuals without disabilities.

In my 26 years of teaching high school students in Michigan with intellectual disabilities (ID), I found that this issue largely contributed to poor preparation for the workforce in educational institutions' curricula and lacked resources to build ID ecosystems.  Consequently, I piloted a workforce program for my students to circumvent the local escalating unemployment rates.  To date, I have helped two graduating classes transition into the workforce.  To increase impact, I created After the Bell Workforce Solutions, Inc. in December 2022.   

Our objective is to increase ID employment in the US by 31% by 2033.
